It creates an unforgettable moment not just for you, but for all your guests. If you are preparing for your wedding, let’s explore everything about wedding confetti that can add joy and charm to your special day. From choosing the right type of confetti to the best moments for its use, these Top tips for wedding confetti will ensure your celebration is filled with delightful memories.

Top tips for wedding confetti, different options

The variety of confetti available is truly impressive. You can choose from classic paper options to biodegradable materials, flower petals, or even glitter. Each choice influences the atmosphere of your celebration.

  • Flower Petals: These provide both beauty and scent. They look fantastic in photos and are perfect for a romantic vibe. For instance, consider using rose petals in classic red or soft pastel shades, depending on your wedding's theme.

  • Biodegradable Confetti: Made from materials like dried leaves or corn starch, these options are eco-friendly and can break down naturally. Some brands offer confetti that is available in various shapes and colors, making them eye-catching and responsible choices.

  • The more the merrier: I'd always suggest going for lots of small confetti than less of big confetti. I find it always looks more magical in photos.

  • Keep things light: I'd also recommend keeping things light and colourful, red rose petals are very romantic, but dark colours tend not to show up too well on camera. Keep things white or colourful!

Always check your venue's policies first. Some places may limit traditional confetti due to cleanup concerns or environmental regulations.

Timing the Confetti Toss

Choosing the right moment to toss confetti is crucial. The best time is usually right after the ceremony as you walk back down the aisle or walk out of the venue. This not only captures pure joy but also results in fantastic photos.

Ensure everyone knows when to throw the confetti. If your confetti throw is happening as you walk back down the isle, make sure whoever is conducting your ceremony informs your guests ahead of time so they know when to throw. If it is happening outside of the venue, we as photographers will step in to get everyone organised and ready for the moment.

Considerations for Guests

To make the confetti toss memorable, preparing your guests is key. As photographers, we give clear instructions about when and how to throw the confetti (It's not as simple as it first may seem). We simply inform guests when to throw, to take the confetti out of the bags or cones, to throw up and over, rather than in your face (You know who you are), and to make as much noise as possible. For larger weddings, you might designate a few friends or family members to distribute confetti bags or cones as guests enter the ceremony area or as they are coming out.

Opting for Eco-Friendly Options

Being environmentally responsible is more vital than ever. If sustainability resonates with you and your partner, consider biodegradable confetti. Many companies now offer these eco-friendly options, which break down naturally, allowing you to celebrate without guilt. For some Venues this will be mandatory.

You might also choose organic alternatives like dried leaves or flower petals. These options not only look wonderful but also fit a commitment to a more sustainable lifestyle. For example, using lavender can add a lovely fragrance to the atmosphere while being kind to the earth.

Capture the Magic

Capturing the confetti moments is essential for preserving memories. Discuss your confetti toss with your photographer in advance. A talented photographer can offer advice on angles and lighting to capture the excitement perfectly, ensuring that all the joy and celebration shines through in your photos.
