Earlier this week, our team had the pleasure of conducting complimentary engagement sessions at The Willows at The Woodmans, a venue that, to my surprise, I hadn't worked at before. Both Richard and Courtney have previously captured weddings here, but this was my first experience - and it truly exceeded my expectations.
An Intimate Setting with Perfect Proportions
Upon arrival, the venue's size immediately struck me as ideal. It comfortably accommodates around 80 guests, with the flexibility to host more if needed, ensuring a cozy atmosphere without feeling cramped. The layout is thoughtfully designed, keeping all essential areas in close proximity to maintain the intimate ambiance that many couples desire for their special day. Despite its compact nature, The Willows offers a wealth of features that continually impress.
Indoor Elegance That Shines in Any Weather
Given that our engagement sessions took place in mid-February, we faced typical British weather - dark and wet conditions that necessitated indoor photography. While some venues might find this challenging, The Willows excelled. The interior boasts a stunning fireplace, an enchanting indoor tree, a magical corridor, elegant doorways, and exquisite décor, providing endless photographic opportunities in every corner. The venue's design seamlessly blends rustic charm with modern elegance, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.
Exceptional Coordination and Hospitality
Although our interaction with the staff was limited due to the nature of the sessions, we were warmly welcomed by Fiona, the manager and wedding coordinator. Her accommodating nature and informative approach were evident, embodying everything one could hope for in a wedding coordinator. Her dedication ensures that each couple's experience is personalised and stress-free. We also had the pleasure of having a member of staff attend the engagement session with his Fiancé and if the rest of the staff are at all similar, this venue might host the A-Team
A Culinary Delight Next Door
Adjacent to The Willows is the renowned Woodmans Arms, an award-winning restaurant known for its exceptional cuisine. While I didn't have the opportunity to dine there during our visit, i heard high praise from Tracy, Ashleigh and Courtney for their offerings, particularly their burgers. It's easy to imagine that the same culinary excellence extends to the wedding catering, promising a delightful gastronomic experience for guests.
Final Reflections
In my view, The Willows at The Woodmans stands out as one of the premier wedding venues in the North East. What it may lack in expansive outdoor space, it more than compensates for with its impeccable indoor settings and exceptional service. For couples seeking a venue that combines intimacy, elegance, and outstanding hospitality, The Willows is a perfect choice.
